Prio Golf

Overview

Co-founded women's golf clothing company

Skills Learned

Honestly...all of them. We wore all the hats from sketching our ideas on a napkin, to tech translating in Adobe Illustrator and spreadsheets, to international relations of clothing manufacturing, distribution and product lifecycle, and go-to-market strategies and marketing campaigns.

Biggest Takeaway

LTFF (let that f*c&r fly) - sometimes you have to just do it.

I co-founded a female golf clothing company after noticing the retail world wasn't keeping up with the modern woman golfer. Since covid, more than 800K American women took up golf, sending the US total over 6.4M female golfers. This is a huge demographic that has been overlooked on what they should be wearing on the course. Thus, we did something about it.

We wanted to educate women on how to get into golf, and support their new-found golfing habits through information and relevant & fashionable attire. We started by writing an etiquette book: "The Ladies Golf Bible That's not a Bible and not Just About Golf" to help gals navigate everything from booking a tee time, to what the heck is in my bag.

From there, we developed our own clothing line, created the technical package required for MOQs, connected with international manufacturers, and dealt with retail supply chain, international distribution, and go-to-market strategies.

With Prio, we've aim to support the casual female golfer who wants to play golf, then hit the farmers market, hike, grocery store, pickleball-addition, etc. Women can do it all, and their clothing should support them.

We wanted the brand to feel relevant and not too try-hard-y. You see a lot of bad puns, outdated garments, or overly sexualized golf clothes in golf. We're that middle ground. Something that makes you look good, feel good, play good. It's science. It also lead us to our tagline: "Women's golf clothes that aren't fugly."
